My name is Sofia. I have recently said my first "Mom". Doctors say I'm ill with acute lymphocytic leukemia. I still don't know what it means, but I WANT TO LIVE!

"You child may get died at every second"

These words Maxim, Sofia's father, heard on the 3d of June 2010. That was the turning-point for the Geyko family. It should act immediately. But what was possible to do?

On the 4th of June, 2010, the father delivered Sofia's bone marrow samples to the Ohmatdet clinic for children in Kiev, Ukraine (http://ohmatdet.com.ua/). Two days later the diagnosis had been confirmed with 100% certainty - two-year old Sofia is ill with acute lymphocytic leukemia of the common variant, i.e. at the very beginning of the disease.

The child was immediately hospitalized to the local clinic - Zaprorozhye Region Department Of Children Haematology, Ukraine, where Sofia had stayed for two weeks for supportive threatment. The treatment turned out not only to be ineffective, the things were getting worse. All the time Sofia was sleeping, high temperature refused to fall, her hands were sown with bruises and wounds caused by droppers.

There is a hope

The hope for the beter always lives inside us. Sofia's parents didn't give up. It was decided to treat the child abroad. The Belarusian Research Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, in the Minsk city, Belarus, was chosen considering feedbacks. The first course of treatment the clinic appraised at $15,000. Living near the clinic costs Sofia's mother Kristina $300 a month. According to forecasts, Sofia with her mother should stay at clinic by February, 2011. Any complication would prolong this term for two months. Thus after the first course of chemotherapy Sofia got the bowel burnt and for some time became bedridden. The treatment term was prolonged. As a result, the amount of money for Sofia's treatment appears to be too huge to be gathered by the family, relatives and friends. All the family property were mortgaged for paying the first part of treatment, but for the family with $3750 of annual income is out of money right now. That's why the family turns to everybody who is not indifferent to Sofia's destiny with appeal for the help.
